3 Easy Tips For Creating Good Content
1. Do research
Google your topic and you will most likely find hundreds of how-to guides, tips and opinion pieces. Try to find the missing gaps in a sea of content, try to find something that hasn’t been covered yet or something you know is or will become a point of focus in your industry.
If you are unsure of where to begin, have a look at your biggest competitors’ social media page comments or forums and see what people are asking.
Then, think outside the box and try to present your content in a different and interesting way. One that will make you stand out from the other 50 guys in your industry who are focusing on the same niche.
2. It’s all about effort
Now, this does not mean that you need to write a 2000 word thinking piece and type everything you think of. Google rankings come from high-quality content. Contrary to what many people believe, short articles don’t perform better. Make sure you do your research on the topic at hand and put in the effort required to actually provide value as opposed to simply putting content out there.
500-700 words is a good length, provided that you are actually saying something within those paragraphs and that the reader won’t feel like they have just wasted their time reading your blog, as this will most likely mean they won’t return for more.
3. Quality beats quantity
Google is not going to reward you for churning out 50 pieces of content a week that contain all your keywords but don’t make sense. Those days have long past. Search engines are more intuitive and work with real language.
Rather limit your content to a consistent one or two posts a week and make sure those posts are your masterpieces – the kind of stuff you would send to the printer and hand out to 1000 people at a conference with confidence.
Once you’ve created your content, make sure you have a plan of action to make sure this content gest shared. Find your audience an share it with them and have a content marketing that exists beyond the next few hours after publishing.
